Van Katehakis started K & Y Carpet One Floor & Home and has always been about family, hard work, and making customers smile. Today, the store is proudly led by co-owners Jim Katehakis and George Roman, who are joined by their family members and a team of friendly, local staff who live in the Melbourne area. Our History: A Family Tradition on the Space Coast

Did you know our business began at the same time NASA started building rockets right here in Brevard County? Van Katehakis started K & Y as a terrazzo flooring company in 1961. Today, three generations of family continue the tradition of craftsmanship, service, and honesty.

You may even know our family from other businesses in Melbourne. Brothers Daniel and Stephen Roman, their father George Roman, Jim Katehakis, and our design concierge Lisa Kershaw are all here to make sure your project goes right—from the first question to the final clean-up. We even have family members working on building and design projects with NASA, helping to shape our city’s future.
