Learn About Hardwood Flooring

When it is time for new flooring in your home, homeowners love choosing hardwood flooring because of its unique style and character. In fact, nothing seems to add style, luxury, and, more importantly, value, to a home more than hardwood. K&Y Carpet One Floor & Home is your local hardwood expert, as we offer a great selection of high-quality styles. We offer Carpet One exclusive brands such as Invincible and Rustic River.

Hardwood floors are an excellent long-term investment for your home. Hardwood flooring is a major selling point for homebuyers and often, the value added to the home far outweighs the cost it took to install them. Whereas carpet, tile, and linoleum often will be something a buyer will change after the purchase unless the floors are damaged, hardwood floors will remain in place.

Especially when compared to carpeting, hardwood floors win hands down when it comes to improved air quality in your home. Hardwood does not trap dust and allergens because there are no fibers and no grout lines. This means that all of those pesky allergens- pet dander, particles, and countless others- will not be an issue.

There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to hardwood floors. You can choose the finish, color, and style that suit your design needs and personal preferences.

Hardwood Styles

Wood is a timeless and ageless material that never goes out of style. Also, many interior decorators swear by the look of hardwood floors because of its elegance, quality and the fact that it can make rooms appear to be more spacious.

Solid and Engineered Hardwood

Solid hardwood, which many homeowners consider the traditional option, features a uniform construction, as the wood planks are made from single strips of wood. These planks are relatively thick, so solid hardwood can be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood is made from multiple wood layers, so it is more dimensionally stable than solid hardwood. This engineered hardwood the ability to be installed below, on, or above ground, and it can handle some levels of moisture and even floor-level heat.

Although engineered hardwood is more durable than solid hardwood, we do recommend installing it in areas with low to moderate levels of foot traffic and little moisture. Bedrooms and living rooms are the most appropriate places for hardwood.
